The Me in You
Like two contrasting beings bound to the same path, Rasmus Mannervik and Agnes Persson let their instruments meet in a discussion of the big and the small, the eternal and the fleeting, the intricate and the simple. These two instruments, which in a conventional context often find themselves in conflict, are here given the chance to embrace the possibilities in their similarities and differences.
Rasmus Mannervik is a Stockholm-based pianist whose playing is characterized by great sensitivity and spontaneity. His touch is soft and emotional, creating a personal touch to the music that is hard not to appreciate. In his latest project, Af Klint Trio, he has created compositions and improvisations inspired by some of Hilma af Klint’s most well-known works.
Guitarist and composer Agnes Persson is one of the young jazz musicians who has revitalized the Swedish jazz scene in recent years. Her debut album In Collaboration With Flowers (Havtorn Records, 2021) stood out among that year’s releases on the Swedish jazz scene, much due to its original compositions and arrangements, all written by Agnes herself. The album was named Guitar Jazz Album of the Year in 2021 by the music magazine Lira.
