The Me in You
Like two contrasting beings bound to the same path, Rasmus Mannervik and Agnes Persson let their instruments meet in a discussion of the big and the small, the eternal and the fleeting, the intricate and the simple. These two instruments, which in a conventional context often find themselves in conflict, are here given the chance to embrace the possibilities in their similarities and differences.

Rasmus Mannervik is a Stockholm-based pianist whose playing is characterized by great sensitivity and spontaneity. His touch is soft and emotional, creating a personal touch to the music that is hard not to appreciate. In his latest project, Af Klint Trio, he has created compositions and improvisations inspired by some of Hilma af Klint’s most well-known works.

Guitarist and composer Agnes Persson is one of the young jazz musicians who has revitalized the Swedish jazz scene in recent years. Her debut album In Collaboration With Flowers (Havtorn Records, 2021) stood out among that year’s releases on the Swedish jazz scene, much due to its original compositions and arrangements, all written by Agnes herself. The album was named Guitar Jazz Album of the Year in 2021 by the music magazine Lira.

Ingrid Laubrock/Tom Rainey
Brooklyn based Tom Rainey and Ingrid Laubrock have been performing together in many different constellations since 2007. Their duo brings together two of the most imaginative improvisers and composers currently active in New York. This tour celebrates the release of their 2024 release Brinkon Intakt Records. Both Laubrock and Rainey are prolific band leaders as well as in demand side persons.

Between them they have worked with Anthony Braxton, Muhal Richard Abrams, JasonMoran, Tim Berne, Mary Halvorson, Tyshawn Sorey, Albert Mangelsdorff, Kris Davis and many others. Ingrid is also a prolific composer. Her work ranges from pieces for jazz ensembles to compositions for string quartet and chamber orchestra.Ingrid Laubrock is an experimental saxophonist and composer, interested in exploring the borders between musical realms and creating multi-layered, dense and often evocative sound worlds. A prolific composer, Laubrock was named a “true visionary” by pianist and The Kennedy Center’sartistic director Jason Moran, and a “fully committed saxophonist and visionary” by The New Yorker. Her composition Vogelfrei was nominated “one of the best 25 Classical tracks of 2018”by The New York Times.Percussionist Tom Rainey was born in Los Angeles, California in 1957.Since moving to New York City in 1979 he has performed at festivals and clubs throughout North America and Europe with a wide range of artists, including John Abercrombie, Ray Anderson, Tim Berne, Jane Ira Bloom, Ted Curson, Marc Ducret, George Gruntz, David Torn, Mark Helias, Fred Hersch, Andy Laster, Joe Lovano, Carmen McRae, Mike Nock, Simon Nabatov, New and Used, Matthias Schubert, Tom Varner, WDR Big Band, Ken Werner and Denny Zeitlin.

Rainey’s voluminous recording credits and the artistic caliber of the musicians he’s supported would easily place him on the A-list of drummers closely identified with the New York City modern creative jazz scene roughly from the late ’80s onward.
